Raining Yet Funny!
This week has been a very rainy yet funny week. So much has happened that has brought our crew closer together. I don't know where to start.......... Well, yesterday we were leaving the block (where we were planting) and everyone was waiting in the truck for one guy. Now, usually the crew would be upset because after a long day every one is tired and hungry but today was different. Our foreman (chuck) approached our truck and suggested that we have a grand entrance for the planter who was running towards us. So, two guys got a long piece of flagging tape and strung it across the road like a finish line. Then the rest of the planters stood parallel in front of the tape yelling and encouraging the planter as though he had just finished a grueling marathon. When the planter had crossed the line we jumped on him and lifted him up like a hero, the whole time yelling and screaming at the top of our lungs. It was one of the funniest things I have every seen..........
Another funny situation happened a few days ago when we were waiting to load the tress into our truck. A guy on our crew found some flagging tape on the ground, attached it to a stick and proceeded to perform an interpretive dance. Fortuanly, I got every thing video taped on my camera. The most remarkable part was the he managed to make it look good and throw the stick/flag in the air, spin around, do a cartwheel than catch the stick while laying flat on his back........
Yesterday we were given a really steep piece of land to plant and for part of the day it was raining. So, a friend of mine got this idea that we should make personal box shelters. We took a box, cut a hole in the front and proclaimed a Holy Box war. The funniest part was the boxes were so big that we could bend down with the box over our head and hide our whole body in the box. We saw a planter coming down of the mountain side and started running towards them on the road. At first we would stop every few feet and drop the box over our body but once we got close enough we jumped him. What made the situation even funnier was that our arms were covered by the box so the only way we attacked him was buy swing our bodies side to side hoping that we would knock him over. Oh yeah the best part of the week was when I had the opportunity to pray for some of the guys on our crew individually.
